extra credit: how it works

Extra credit assignments for this class works in this following way:

* They are due on the last day of the quarter unless otherwise specified
* They are graded on a scale of 1-3 for quality and effort.
* They are added to the number of points you have earned for the quarter.
> For example: before extra credit, your grade is 79/120. With the extra points you have earned, you grade might now be 85/120.
* Each person may earn up to 6 extra points per quarter

extra credit: first quarter

USA Today's weekly news quiz

USA Today has a weekly news quiz. It uses their own news content to generate the questions, so it doesn't quite match up with The New York Times. It also seems to cover a wider range of topics (sports, for example). But it's another option if you're interested! http://www.usatoday.com/news/news-quiz.htm

New York Times interactive news quiz

Here is a daily news quiz put out by The New York Times. Of course, because it's a daily quiz, it covers more information than ours on Monday, but it's based on their front page, like ours is. http://learning.blogs.nytimes.com/category/news-quiz/
